The Academy Wildcats's three-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 61-35 margin over Manual. That result was just more of the same for these two, as The Academy also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead The Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Haylee Dawson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Lilly Millan, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds.
The Academy's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5. As for Manual, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Academy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Colorado Academy at 5:30 p.m. on December 21st. Colorado Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than The Academy in Colorado (Colorado Academy is ranked 66th, while The Academy is ranked 215th). Manual will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Mary's Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Hopefully St. Mary's Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Wednesday.
