The La Salle College Explorers will venture away from home to challenge the St. Joseph's Prep Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. La Salle College is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, La Salle College got the win against William Penn Charter by a conclusive 9-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Explorers.
Declan Cawley looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, La Salle College got a big performance out of Dan Murray, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Murray has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brycen Clarke, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, St. Joseph's Prep was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Episcopal Academy. The defeat continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Churchmen: they've now lost six in a row.
St. Joseph's Prep also got a good showing from Robby Grasso, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, St. Joseph's Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Falcone, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
St. Joseph's Prep's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for La Salle College, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. La Salle College has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph's Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
La Salle College skirted past St. Joseph's Prep 1-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Explorers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
