The Fremont Silverwolves are taking a road trip to square off against the Lone Peak Knights at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Fremont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
While Fremont's victory against Copper Hills wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Fremont came out on top in a nail-biter against Copper Hills on Friday, sneaking past 5-3. The Silverwolves haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Chase Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.
In other pitching news, Tad Grange looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brant Koford, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two doubles and two RBI. Cole Sanders also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Fremont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Lone Peak not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 22, 2024. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Farmington. The Knights' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Lone Peak let Boston Walkenhorst and Landon Fry run wild. Walkenhorst went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI, while Fry scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three doubles gave Walkenhorst a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Packer, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Fremont's record now sits at 4-2. As for Lone Peak, their record is now 3-0.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fremont hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Lone Peak struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fremont took their win against Lone Peak in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fremont since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
