3A Metro - West recap October 8, 2013
Conifer's Kailib Geer recorded the longest rushing play in 3A Metro - West this season in his game against D'Evelyn last week. Geer's team topped the Jaguars as he sprinted for 68 yards on the play and finished with 82 in all.
Evergreen extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lutheran, 23-20. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
The Lions' dynamic duo of James Willis and Joshua Claussen proved to be unstoppable against Evergreen, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Willis threw for 301 yards and 2 touchdowns and Claussen had 132 yards receiving. Alex Nemmers helped Lutheran's passing attack out by catching 8 balls for 122 yards.
He was 19-31 with 2 interceptions.
D'Evelyn's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Jaguars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Connor Mateer has thrown for 1,312 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Ty McGee has 36 catches for 725 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Evergreen takes on second place D'Evelyn. Rob Molholm's team bested Lutheran last week, while D'Evelyn fell to Conifer.
Arvada fell to Alameda 61-34 last week, the largest margin of any game. Elias De la Rosa threw for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 49 yards in the loss.
