Softball Recap: Antelope Wins Going Away Against Cordova

Antelope was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Cordova on Thursday. The Titans blew past the Lancers 17-6. Considering the Titans have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mary Jimenez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Deanna Richardson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Antelope was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cordova only posted a batting average of .333.

Antelope has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cordova, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Antelope will face off against McClatchy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cordova, they will challenge West Park at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight.
