Chaparral is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Monday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Murrieta Mesa Rams at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Chaparral 2.5, Murrieta Mesa 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Chaparral saw some tournament action last Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Roosevelt.

02/21/25 @ Hesperia | 2 |
02/19/25 vs Littlerock | 1 |
02/17/25 vs Barstow | 1 |
Jaiden Lopez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. Lopez was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-6. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Sebastian Zuniga looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
Lopez wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Fien, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Murrieta Mesa, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Foothill by a score of 6-3 on Thursday.
Cooper Child tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched.
Murrieta Mesa's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Chaparral, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Chaparral has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Murrieta Mesa struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chaparral couldn't quite get it done against Murrieta Mesa in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Will the Pumas have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
