The Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 62-21 loss at the hands of Hunter-Kinard-Tyler. Ridge Spring-Monetta has not had much luck with Hunter-Kinard-Tyler recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Ridge Spring-Monetta saw an underclassman step up: Sariya Geyer scored four points along with 12 rebounds.
Tilayzia Youmans continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hunter-Kinard-Tyler, scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Youmans has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aysiah Bonaparte, who scored 18 points along with five steals.
Ridge Spring-Monetta's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Hunter-Kinard-Tyler, their victory was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridge Spring-Monetta won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Calhoun County at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Hunter-Kinard-Tyler, they will head out on the road to face off against Blackville-Hilda at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Blackville-Hilda focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday.
