The Gaston Christian Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gaston Christian has four straight wins, Charlotte Country Day School has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Gaston Christian was the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Concord Academy. Considering Gaston Christian has won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Camden Cobb and Carter Rowe did most of the damage at the plate: Cobb scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Rowe scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Cobb is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Caden Browning also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Gaston Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Charlotte Country Day School's offense. They fell just short of Charlotte Christian by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Buccaneers have suffered against the Knights since April 13, 2021.
James Lowe put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lowe was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double.
Gaston Christian pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Charlotte Country Day School, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gaston Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Country Day School struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Gaston Christian couldn't quite finish off Charlotte Country Day School in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 and fell 8-6. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
