Basketball Recap: Hesston's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Hesston waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 48-40 victory over the Sunrise Christian Academy Buffaloes.

Sunrise Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marko Pavlovic, who posted six points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks. What's more, Pavlovic also posted four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Iyzrel Graham, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 11 points.

Hesston's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points over those games. As for Sunrise Christian Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-4.

Hesston and Sunrise Christian Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings. Hesston (ranked 34th) will meet Nickerson (ranked 285th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Sunrise Christian Academy will challenge Mingo Valley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday up 178 places (23 vs. 201).
