Sanford has gone 9-1 against Tatnall recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. Sanford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Sanford's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Wilmington Friends by a score of 5-0. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Quakers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Alex Gannon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Gannon was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Cole Ruhland was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two triples and two runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tatnall). They walked away with an 11-8 win over Odyssey Charter on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.
The team relied heavily on Jonathan Veghte, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Tatnall is 2-0-1 when Veghte posts two or more runs, but 2-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Elliot Bishop, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Sanford pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Tatnall, their record is now 4-10-1.
Tatnall's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sanford has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. It's a different story for Tatnall, though, as they've only averaged .339. Will they be able to contain Sanford's hitters?
Everything went Sanford's way against Tatnall in their previous meeting back in April, as Sanford made off with a 14-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
