Baseball Recap: Red River Has No Trouble Against Ebarb

Red River not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 14th. They blew past the Ebarb Rebels 11-3. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Aston Hester was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Red River is 5-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 11-14-1 otherwise. Hester was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, John Dickey and Kade Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Dickey went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Martinez went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Martinez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Blake Bown, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Red River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Red River and bumps their season record up to 16-15-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Ebarb, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.

Ebarb will venture away from home to take on Logansport at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Red River will be paying especially close attention to the Rebels' contest: after the Rebels faces off against the Tigers, they'll take on Red River again at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
