The Blackstone-Millville Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Hopedale, falling 58-29. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Blackstone-Millville has scored all season.
Blackstone-Millville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Dunton, who scored six points along with seven steals. Another player making a difference was Karson Cournoyer, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Hopedale was led to victory by Patrick Madden and Alex Lannibois. Madden scored 17 points, while Lannibois scored 18 points. It was the first time this season that Lannibois scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robbie Manning, who scored eight points.
Blackstone-Millville's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Hopedale, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-7.
Blackstone-Millville will square off against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Douglas presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Chargers in Massachusetts (the Tigers are ranked 81st, while the Chargers are ranked 249th). As for Hopedale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
