This season hasn't been kind to the Herron Achaeans, who are still winless after their fifth game. They were the victim of a rough 72-46 defeat at the hands of Horizon Christian on Friday. Herron was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-17.
Horizon Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lawrence Long, who scored 18 points along with six steals and five assists. The match was Long's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Brayden Mathews was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Herron bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.8 points per game. As for Horizon Christian, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Herron will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Waldron at 11:00 a.m. on December 28th. Horizon Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Central Christian Academy at 11:00 a.m. on December 18th. Central Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 451st, while Horizon Christian is ranked 103rd).
