Turner County is 8-1 against Lanier County since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Turner County Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lanier County Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Turner County is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Turner County took a serious blow against Clinch County, falling 49-21. Turner County gained 99 more yards on the day, but it was Clinch County that made the best of use of them.
Turner County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Curtis Grant, who gained 118 total yards and two touchdowns, and Carlton Brannon who threw for 315 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt. Grant's longest reception was for an incredible 77 yards.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Lanier County, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 35-16 loss to Clinch County two weeks ago. Lanier County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Lanier County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Darien Taylor, who picked up 86 receiving yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all.
The losses dropped Turner County to 2-6 and Lanier County to 4-2.
Turner County came up short against Lanier County in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 31-24. Thankfully for Turner County, Jaylon Calhoun (who rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
