District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA recap October 1, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Chris Starocci and Dajhere Pacley connected against Brashear. The connection was good for 70 yards, the longest such play in District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA this season.
Cathedral Prep extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Ursuline, 37-8. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Ramblers.
Strong Vincent's dynamic duo of Starocci and Pacley proved tough for the Bulls to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Starocci threw for 82 yards and Pacley had 70 yards receiving. Mark Akerly helped Strong Vincent's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 13 yards.
Mike Novel made the biggest impact on defense this week as General McLane fell to Conneaut Area. The 6-foot-2 junior.
Zach Fox provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Lancers fell to Conneaut Area. He completed 3 passes for 54 yards and also ran for 121 yards.
Cathedral Prep's Billy Fessler and Alex Greenwalt led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Fessler has thrown for 760 yards this season, while Greenwalt, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 12 catches for 202 yards. Tyler Sanders from General McLane leads the league in rushing with 476 yards.
The marquee game in District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA this week will be the clash between Michael Mischler's team and McDowell. The Ramblers enters the contest ranked fourth in the state, while the Trojans ranks 23rd.
East fell to Slippery Rock 66-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Eddie Williams ran for 143 yards in the loss.
