The Fairmont Heights Hornets kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They were outmatched by Suitland on the road and fell 57-14. Fairmont Heights lost against Suitland in their previous head to head back in December of 2016, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 101-22 score last time.
Sierra Hampton was Fairmont Heights' leading scorer, having posted six points.
Allanah Gough held things down on the boards with three rebounds.
Fairmont Heights' loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Suitland, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Fairmont Heights will head out on the road to face off against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Suitland, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Bowie at 7:15 p.m.
