Mountain View and Milpitas are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Spartans will square off against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Mountain View has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Mountain View made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Los Gatos, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Spartans fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 5-3 on Wednesday.

Allison Marcelino was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Riley Anderson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those doubles were her first of the season.
While Milpitas didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over Saratoga on Wednesday. That 16-run margin sets a new team best for the Trojans this season.
Like Mountain View, Milpitas also got a great game from a two-way player: Dominique Walker. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Walker has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Milpitas got a massive performance out of Casandra Curiel, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Curiel has posted since back in April of 2025. Sophia Delgado was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Milpitas' record is now 5-2. As for Mountain View, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
Milpitas' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Mountain View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Milpitas, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Mountain View keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?
Everything went Mountain View's way against Milpitas in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Mountain View made off with a 10-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
