3A District 3 recap September 24, 2013
Kingfisher's Landon Nault rumbled for the longest rushing play in 3A District 3 this season in his game against Hennessey last week. Nault scampered for 83 yards on the play and finished with 171 on the day as his team bested the Eagles.
Oklahoma Centennial was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fifth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Bison defeated Grant 34-8.
Heritage Hall's dynamic duo of Connor McGinnis and Domonique James proved to be unstoppable against Davis, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McGinnis threw for 386 yards and 3 touchdowns and James had 216 yards receiving. T.J. Schallner helped Heritage Hall's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 65 yards.
The Chargers' dynamic duo of McGinnis and James proved tough for the Wolves to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Nault was the best running back in the league this week. Nick Smith also contributed to the rushing game with 121 yards on the ground.
David Bastida was a key player and the best on defense this week as Kingfisher beat Hennessey. The 5-foot-4 defensive lineman.
McGinnis put up the best numbers in passing as Heritage Hall fell to Davis.
James had a great week catching the football as Andy Bogert's team lost to Jody Weber's team.
He went 20-37 with 2 interceptions.
James was the best receiver in 3A District 3 this week as the Chargers fell to the Wolves.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Heritage Hall's McGinnis and James have proven to be a lethal combination. McGinnis has thrown for 921 yards this season, while James has 15 catches for 495 yards. Nault from Jeff Myers' team leads the league in rushing with 414 yards.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Chargers' James goes up against the Yellowjackets' Smith.
Next week's game between Heritage Hall and Kingfisher will feature an aerial matchup as McGinnis tests his arm against Smith's defensive ability.
As it stands, the Chargers are in sixth, while the Yellowjackets are in first.
Oklahoma Centennial led the league in scoring this week by notching 34 points on the Generals.
