Lyman has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Wall Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Lyman put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 55-27 victory over Burke. Given Lyman's advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Burke is ranked 75th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Wall unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Hill City by a score of 63-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Wall has suffered yet this season.
Paige Kjerstad put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Nora Dinger was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists and three steals.
Wall struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lyman's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Wall, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3.
Things could have been worse for Lyman, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-48 loss to Wall in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Lyman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
