It was a good run, but the Westwood Redhawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their 13-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 64-52 to Ridge View. Westwood was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blazers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Westwood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was TJ Bell, who scored 24 points. Bell hasn't dropped below 15 points for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Dontae Walters, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Westwood's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-2. As for Ridge View, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-1.
Westwood will face off against the Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Irmo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Redhawks are ranked third). As for Ridge View, they will be playing at home against the Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Richland Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
