Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cedar). Everything went their way against the Hurricane Tigers on Thursday as the Cedar Reds made off with a 21-3 victory. The win was nothing new for the Reds as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Sadie Parson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kate Lopez, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaylee Johnson, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Cedar always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Cedar's record now sits at 7-2. As for Hurricane, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedar will welcome Pine View at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Hurricane, they will challenge Mountain Ridge at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Hurricane has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
