Baseball Recap: North Creek Gets the Win

While North Creek's win against Newport - Bellevue wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Jaguars narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Knights 3-1. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Jack Cochran tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

At the plate, North Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Christopherson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Christopherson has become a key player for the Jaguars: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Ethan Swallom was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

North Creek's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Newport - Bellevue, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-15.

Coincidentally, North Creek and Newport - Bellevue will both be playing Eastlake the next time they take the field. The Knights will head out to face the Wolves at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Jaguars will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
