Sinton is 0-10 against Jones since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Sinton Pirates will head out on the road to take on the Jones Trojans at 6:15 p.m. Sinton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1005th, while Jones is ranked 429th).
Sinton suffered their biggest defeat since November 10, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by West Oso on the road and fell 50-18. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sinton in their matchups with West Oso: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Jones beat Ingleside 32-28 on Friday.
Jones' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Danielle Gonzales, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, and Abby Del Bosque, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Gonzales posted two or more blocks.
Sinton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Jones, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 16-12 record this season.
Sinton came up short against Jones in their previous matchup on January 2nd, falling 40-31. Can Sinton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
