Basketball Game Preview: Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks vs. Barnwell Warhorses

Blackville-Hilda is 2-8 against Barnwell since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks will welcome the Barnwell Warhorses at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Blackville-Hilda is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Ridge Spring-Monetta on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Blackville-Hilda came up short against Ridge Spring-Monetta, falling 67-42. The Fighting Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Breyanna Williams, who posted 11 points and five steals. Williams is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least five every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tylasia Brown, who had ten points.

Even though they lost, Blackville-Hilda smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Barnwell was beaten by Williston-Elko 49-19 on Wednesday. The Warhorses haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Blackville-Hilda's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2. As for Barnwell, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Blackville-Hilda and Barnwell were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup on Monday, but Blackville-Hilda came up empty-handed after a 32-31 defeat.
