Softball Recap: Sunnyside Has No Trouble Against Buena

Sunnyside got themselves on the board against Buena on Monday, but Buena never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Colts. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Alyssa Gonsalez was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Kasandra Alcaraz was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Sunnyside hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive contests.

Sunnyside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. Buena is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunnyside will welcome Tucson High Magnet School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Sunnyside's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Buena, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Nogales at 4:00 p.m. Nogales has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.11 runs per game on average), something Buena will no doubt try to take advantage of.
