Baseball Recap: St. Francis De Sales Wins Going Away Against Central Catholic

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Anthony Wayne, St. Francis de Sales was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Central Catholic Fighting Irish. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gabe Lisowski and Nick Hood did most of the damage at the plate: Lisowski went 1-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Hood got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. St. Francis de Sales is undefeated when Hood posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Charlie Pastula also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

St. Francis de Sales' victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-4. As for Central Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Francis de Sales will welcome St. John's Jesuit at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Central Catholic, they will square off against Catholic Central at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
