Daphne had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Mary G. Montgomery on Tuesday. Victoria Moten made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Daphne got a big performance out of Karsyn Barnett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Barnett has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Hannah Newport, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
Daphne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mary G. Montgomery only posted an OBP of .111.
Daphne has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 37-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Mary G. Montgomery, they now have a losing record of 17-18-1.
