The Hernando Leopards pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Mulberry 61-57. Hernando was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Hernando lost, one person who can't be blamed is Josiah Wright. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wright has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Daniel Merizalde, who scored 14 points.
Hernando has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. As for Mulberry, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-10.
Hernando will square off against the Cobras at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mulberry, they will face off against the Hornets at TBD on Tuesday. Bishop Moore is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
