Polytech is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Cape Henlopen is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Panthers will host the Vikings at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Polytech had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 21-run drubbing they dealt Dover on Tuesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Senators with a sharp 22-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Senators: they've now won three in a row.

Riley Brown was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Frazier, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Cape Henlopen faced Smyrna in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Vikings blew past the Eagles 10-2. Cape Henlopen's victory was all the more impressive since the Eagles were averaging only 3.79 runs allowed on the season.
Abby Marsh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Ava Calciano was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alivia Heers, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Cape Henlopen's win bumped their record up to 16-0. As for Polytech, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Polytech has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Cape Henlopen struggles in that department as they've averaged .508. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Polytech might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Cape Henlopen in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
