Pottsville is 8-2 against Pine Grove since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Pottsville Crimson Tide will head out on the road to face off against the Pine Grove Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Pottsville will be strutting in after a win while Pine Grove will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, Pottsville didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Eastern Lebanon County, but they still walked away with a 50-45 victory.
Pottsville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christian Alvarez, who scored 19 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Alvarez has scored at least 25% of Pottsville's points. Another player making a difference was Letrel Montone, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Pine Grove had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost to Tri-Valley on the road by a decisive 54-39 margin.
The victory got Pottsville back to even at 1-1. As for Pine Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Pottsville came up short against Pine Grove in their previous meeting back in January, falling 47-41. Can Pottsville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
