Basketball Recap: Community School of Davidson's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Community School of Davidson's game on Tuesday was all tied up 33-33 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 65-58 victory over the Christ the King Crusaders. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Community School of Davidson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Regan Downey, who posted 19 points along with eight boards and four steals. The matchup was Downey's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lucia-Grace Soares, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 12 points and three steals.

Christ the King lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lucy Gorman, who earned 15 points and seven assists. Gorman has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Rosie Gorman was another key player, putting up 17 points and five rebounds.

The win (which was Community School of Davidson's third in a row) raised their record to 9-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Christ the King, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Community School of Davidson will venture away from home to challenge Langtree Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Christ the King, they will head out to take on Lincoln Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Christ the King is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season.
