Basketball Game Preview: Anderson Indians vs. Kokomo Wildkats

The Anderson Indians will take on the Kokomo Wildkats at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Anderson is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Lawrence North on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Indians lost 65-39 to the Wildcats.

The losing side was boosted by Ariah Scott, who posted 14 points and four steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiya Fleming, who earned seven points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kokomo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Fort Wayne South Side 77-22 on Friday. The contest marked the Wildkats' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Kokomo's win came from a few key players Anderson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Amara Stroman, who shot 45% from the field on her way to 16 points along with seven steals and six assists. Those seven steals gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jhordyn Brown, who went 8-for-17 en route to 18 points and seven boards.

Kokomo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Wayne South Side only pulled down three.

Kokomo's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points over those games. As for Anderson, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Anderson ended up a good deal behind Kokomo when the teams last played back in November of 2024, losing 54-35. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
