Glendale Prep Academy (Glendale, Ariz.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 4 in Arizona, but was stunned by
Mogollon (Heber, Ariz.), 40-20. Mogollon was ranked at No. 5 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Arizona coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a
Jaden Willis touchdown run in the first quarter, the Mustangs led 24-6 at the half.
By the end of the third, Mogollon found itself trailing by two points as the Griffins captured the lead thanks to two scores in the quarter. Glendale Prep Academy scored on a
Myles Mattox touchdown run and a two-point conversion in the quarter.
The loss snapped Glendale Prep Academy's three-game winning streak. With the win MHS extended its winning streak to three games.
Mogollon (4-1) will play a VI Section I (8 Man) game against Mayer next week, while Glendale Prep Academy (3-2) will take on Fredonia also in a VI Section I (8 Man) game.
