The Palmetto Ridge Bears''s 15-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They blew past DeSoto County 46-7 at home. The victory was just what Palmetto Ridge needed coming off of a 53-22 loss in their prior matchup.
Palmetto Ridge had a senior duo take command as Demetri Zertopoulis threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns and Mark Whalen gained 96 total yards and three touchdowns.
Palmetto Ridge's win bumped their record up to 1-8. As for DeSoto County, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmetto Ridge will take on Golden Gate at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Golden Gate's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five games. DeSoto County will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Hardee at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Hardee is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
