Softball Recap: St. Paul Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

St. Paul's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Saint Joseph Jesters by a score of 8-3. This was a revenge game for the Swordsmen: when they faced off against the Jesters last Thursday, they had to take a 5-3 defeat.

Mya Beserra made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Beserra was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, St. Paul let Eveny Gomez and Daina Munoz run wild. Gomez went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Munoz scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three RBI gave Gomez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Audrey Prado, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

St. Paul hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.

St. Paul moved to 11-12 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Saint Joseph, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.

St. Paul and Saint Joseph will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Swordsmen see the field they'll take on Paraclete at 3:15 p.m. on May 1. As for Saint Joseph, their break will end when they face Bellflower at 3:15 p.m. on the 30th.
