Roxbury is 2-0 against Livingston since September of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Roxbury Gaels will look to defend their home field against the Livingston Lancers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Roxbury has eight straight wins, Livingston has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, everything went Roxbury's way against Morristown as Roxbury made off with a 36-14 win. Given Roxbury's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Morristown is ranked 103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Anthony Skawinski was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 15 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Colin Richter, who picked up 113 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Livingston, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 25-8 loss to Randolph two weeks ago.
Roxbury's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-1 Mount Olive and 6-2 Parsippany Hills (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.5% over those games). Livingston has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost six of their first seven games, which leaves them at a 1-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Roxbury against Livingston in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 41-14 win. Does Roxbury have another victory up their sleeve, or will Livingston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
