The Bellevue Eagles will square off against the Saint Jo Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bellevue is looking for their season's first victory.
Bellevue lost 17-7 to Perrin-Whitt on Wednesday.
River Trail and Ryan Jones did some serious damage despite the final result: Trail went 2-for-3 with two triples, two RBI, and one run, while Jones went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that Trail has brought in this season.
Meanwhile, Saint Jo came into Thursday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Bryson on Thursday.
Sam Martin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Saint Jo let Lee Yeley and Trent Gaston run wild. Yeley got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Gaston went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Gaston has become a key player for Saint Jo: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5-1 otherwise.
Saint Jo's victory bumped their record up to 3-6-1. As for Bellevue, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bellevue has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Saint Jo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bellevue couldn't quite finish off Saint Jo when the teams last played back in April of 2025 and fell 8-6. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
