Softball Recap: Bucksport Has No Trouble Against Searsport

Bucksport had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Searsport on Wednesday. The Golden Bucks blew past the Vikings 11-2. Considering the Golden Bucks have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Natalie Simpson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Bucksport let Victoria Lyman and Marina Keene run wild. Lyman went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while Keene went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Brooke Elden, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Bucksport's win bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Searsport, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

As of now, neither Bucksport nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
