The West Shore Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They suffered a tough 49-25 defeat at the hands of Melbourne. West Shore was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Melbourne got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alison Hayes out in front who scored 17 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Hayes scored 15 or more points. Cecelia Nardone was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven steals and five assists.
West Shore has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Melbourne, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-12.
West Shore the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Pineapple Cove Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for Melbourne, they will head out on the road to face off against Winter Park at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Winter Park presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Melbourne in Florida (Winter Park is ranked 173rd, while Melbourne is ranked 487th).
