The Marsing Huskies will square off against the Orofino Maniacs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Marsing is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Vision 24-7 on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with Vision: they've now won eight in a row.
Jace Chadez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Chadez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dresden Wood, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Wyatt Barber was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Marsing always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .604. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vision only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, Orofino waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Bulldogs.
Like Marsing, Orofino also got a great game from a two-way player: Aiden Olive. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. Olive was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Quinton Naranjo was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Blake Barlow, who scored two runs.
Orofino's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Marsing, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
Both Marsing and Orofino just can't seem to miss. The Huskies have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Orofino struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Marsing beat Orofino 7-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Maniacs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
