After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Inglemoor, the Newport - Bellevue Knights were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Redmond by a score of 57-45. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Newport - Bellevue considering their 23-point performance the matchup before.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newport - Bellevue to victory, but perhaps none more so than Portia Polo, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Polo has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Julia Thompson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sofia Locati, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Schneider, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Newport - Bellevue's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Redmond, they bumped their record down to 6-9 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newport - Bellevue will take on Issaquah at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Redmond, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Inglemoor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (Inglemoor is ranked 115th, while Redmond is ranked 125th).
