Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Jimtown's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

There's no place like home for Jimtown, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on the LaVille Lancers with a sharp 9-0 win on Friday. Considering the Jimmies have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Mason Armstrong made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over 6.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ty Zartman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Connor Christman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Jimtown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as LaVille only posted a batting average of .045.

Jimtown is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for LaVille, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jimtown will host Edwardsburg at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eddies will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Jimmies surely won't give up without a fight. As for LaVille, they will take on Rochester at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
