After only one  run in their last  match, Maloney made sure to put some  runs up on the board against Platt  on Thursday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp  16-3 win. Considering the Spartans have won five games by more than seven  runs this season, Thursday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Stella Cicero made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing five innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   four  hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with one  double and one  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Jenna Quilty was a standout: she got on base  in all five of her plate appearances with three  stolen bases, four  runs,  and one  RBI. That's the most  stolen bases  she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Lacie Volpe, who  went 3-for-4 with one  home run and five  RBI.
 Maloney  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .649. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
Maloney is  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record  this season. Those  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Platt,  they are  on  a  13-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 1-13.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maloney will venture away from home to  square off against Southington  at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Blue Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9  runs per game  this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Platt, they will head out to  take on New Britain  at 3:45  p.m.  on Friday.
