After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dougherty, the Lakeland Dreadnaughts were happy to have found some success on Friday. They managed a 31-27 win over East Bay.
Lakeland found their leader in underclassman Zakharia Rutledge, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Rutledge has scored at least 25% of Lakeland's points.
When it comes to explaining why East Bay lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ranay Brown. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. Nyashia Edwards was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.
The victory got Lakeland back to even at 1-1. As for East Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Lakeland's road trip will continue as they head out to face Gibbs at 4:00 p.m. on November 25th. As for East Bay, they will take on Jefferson at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
