This season hasn't been kind to the Sandhills Valley Mavericks, who are still winless after their fifth match. They were dealt a 60-6 loss at the hands of Maywood/Hayes Center on Tuesday. Sandhills Valley has not had much luck with Maywood/Hayes Center recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Maywood/Hayes Center found their leader in underclassman Caylie Softley, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for Softley. Another player making a difference was Kesli Cox, who scored ten points.
Sandhills Valley bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Maywood/Hayes Center, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Sandhills Valley will head out on the road to face off against Twin Loup on Friday. As for Maywood/Hayes Center, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brady at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brady will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Maywood/Hayes Center is ranked eighth).
