After two games on the road, Freeburg is heading back home. They will take on the Columbia Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Freeburg suffered a rough 59-34 defeat at the hands of Breese Central. While losing is never fun, Freeburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Breese Central is ranked 20th).
Meanwhile, Columbia's game on Saturday was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 45-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Peoria Notre Dame.
Columbia's loss came about despite a quality game from Sam Donald, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 46.3% of Columbia's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Columbia struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They are 16-7 when they can't control their own glass like that.
Freeburg's loss dropped their record down to 17-13. As for Columbia, their loss dropped their record down to 21-8.
Freeburg suffered a grim 59-39 defeat to Columbia when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Donald, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds. Now that Freeburg knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
