Central Sequoia recap September 10, 2013
Dinuba's Michael Wright rumbled for the longest rushing play in Central Sequoia this season in his game against Reedley last week. Wright's team bested the Pirates as he sprinted for 82 yards on the play and finished with 193 in all.
Fans got a thrill when Javier Brito and Chad Zeibak connected against Woodlake. The connection was good for 52 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Marcus McMaryion threw for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 10-15 with 0 interceptions.
Daniel Kunkel was a key player and the best on defense this week as Exeter bested the Tigers. The 6-foot-0 senior grabbed 2.0 sacks.
McMaryion put up the best numbers in passing as Dinuba topped Reedley. McMaryion's favorite target this week was Emiliano Huerta, who caught 2 passes for 73 yards.
Austin Cardoza was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 208 yards on 32 carries as the Monarchs defeated McClatchy. Teammate Brito added to the ground attack by rushing for 24 yards.
Avalos was the best receiver in Central Sequoia this week as the Bears topped the Lions. Avalos tallied 6 receptions for 140 yards. Aaron Chambers helped Selma's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 11 yards.
On the heels of McMaryion and Wright, Kevin Scharton's team has had great success on offense. McMaryion is tops in the league in passing with 387 yards, while Wright has rushed for 400 yards this season. Tops in the league in receving yards is Selma's Avalos, with 160 yards on 7 catches.
Central Valley Christian scaled the state rankings by moving to 492 from 573 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cavaliers were able to make move up by defeating Bakersfield Christian 34-33.
