The Legacy Lightning will square off against the Monarch Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Legacy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season.
Legacy is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Niwot: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Legacy blew Niwot out of the water with a 76-44 final score. Given the Lightning's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Cougars are ranked 239th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Legacy relied on the efforts of Ari Harpring, who went 9 of 11 en route to 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Jaedon Ward, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points and five steals. The contest was Harpring's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Allshouse, who posted eight points and five boards.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Monarch's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against Longmont, falling 78-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Coyotes have suffered since December 13, 2024.
Legacy will need focus on slowing down Logan Laverty, one of several Monarch players who made an impact when they last played. He earned ten points and three steals. Justin Myers was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to three steals and three blocks.
Legacy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Monarch, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Legacy has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 28.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Monarch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Legacy ended up a good deal behind Monarch when the teams last played back in January of 2024, losing 63-46. Will Legacy have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
