Madison Central is a perfect 10-0 against Estill County since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Indians will face off against the Engineers at 6:00 p.m. Madison Central will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Madison Central had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Rockcastle County on Monday. The Indians were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Rockets.
Not much got past Sydney Smith, who gave up just two hits to keep Rockcastle County off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mollie Neeley, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Devan Stewart was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
George Rogers Clark typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Estill County proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cardinals 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Engineers have posted against the Cardinals since April 24, 2019.
Bella Rice spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Marlo Puckett was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Madi Rose, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Estill County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Estill County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Madison Central, their record now sits at 14-3.
Everything went Madison Central's way against Estill County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Madison Central made off with a 15-1 victory. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Engineers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
