The Sunny Hills Lancers and the South Pasadena Tigers squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but sadly the Sunny Hills Lancers had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Tigers on the road and fell 72-41. While losing is never fun, Sunny Hills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while South Pasadena is ranked 90th).
Despite the loss, Sunny Hills still got an impressive performance from Kingsley Ashley, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Raeden Bobadilla, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Russell Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Pasadena, going 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 0 assists. Sebastian Martinez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven assists and four steals.
Sunny Hills has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-13 record this season. As for South Pasadena, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-6.
Sunny Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Pasadena, they will face off against Valley View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley View will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something South Pasadena surely won't give up without a fight.
